The Paxman Model 25,
is based on the Model 20 design, adding on the additional benefits of Paxman's unique dual bore system. Central to this design is the Merewether System. This allows the airflow to travel in the same direction on both the F and Bb horns. This in turn minimises interruption from the turning rotor.

The Model 25 incorporates Paxman’s unique dual bore system. A larger cylindrical bore on the F side opens it out, giving a similar level of resistance to the Bb side. This allows the player to push the air through in the lower register.
This extract from the third movement of Gordon Jacob's Concerto for Horn and Strings is played by David Pyatt on a Paxman Model 25. It is taken from the British Horn Concertos Lyrita CD with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Braithwaite. David currently plays a Paxman Model 20.
